The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Express Frustration Regarding Size Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's garments without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Reaction
Countless users and merchants are posting online stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category than originally posted because of the remapping.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Updates
Earlier, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, located in Scotland, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she said.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options following member complaints.
